It has become a tradition that the Latinale Poetry Festival organizes a poetry translation workshop …

which will be held once again during the 2018 Latinale in Berlin. For twelve years the mobile Latinale Poetry Festival has been committed to presenting Latin American contemporary poetic art. The poets invited for this year’s event come from many different Latin American and Caribbean countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico representing both Spanish and English language poetic creations.

Latin American poetry translation workshop

For several years, the Latinale Festival has stood out for a unique workshop dedicated to poetry translation. This year’s Latinale invites once again both professional translators and interested laypersons to translating poems from Spanish and English into German. The participants of the workshop will experience the creative process of literary translation in teamwork. They will also have the unique opportunity of sharing the translation process directly with the poets themselves who will take an active part in the discussions.
